Kapton® polyimide film by DuPont™ is an electrical insulation material with outstanding thermal, mechanical, chemical and electrical properties. The flexibility of Kapton® allows Plastic Shims and Gaskets to produce bespoke rolls or components utilising our thirty year’s experience in die and laser cutting techniques to produce a wide range of applications.
With its low and high temperature properties Kapton® is a remarkable material which can be supplied in thicknesses from 23 microns to 125 microns.
It can function at 220°C to 240°C for continuous service, and intermittent at 400°C. Kapton® can operate at temperatures as low as -269°C. It excels as an electrical insulator and exhibits high-temperature resistance.
Kapton® does not melt or burn as it has the highest UL-94 flammability rating: V-0 and makes it ideal for a variety of applications:
Motor windings, Thermal barrier, Dielectric gaskets, Transformer windings and capacitor insulation, Flexible circuits, Circuit board insulation, speaker coils or semi-conducting manufacturing.
Plastic Shims and Gaskets also has trade conversion capabilities to laminate with a high tac or temperature adhesive rolls with an easy-peel silicone release liner for a quick non-hassle bond.
For increased mechanical strength with improved thermal resistance with Class H categorization many of customer utilise a two-ply or three-ply Nomex® aramid paper laminated to Kapton® polyimide film.
Ideal for use slot, phase, tur-to turn, liner and barrier insulation in rotating motors, transformer and inductor windings.
With ISO 9001 accreditation Plastic Shims and Gaskets takes great pride to consistently produce precision Kapton® components guaranteed to meet your specifications and function perfectly within your application.
